Biography

Veronica is a researcher who joined the Arias Lab in the spring of 2017. She recently graduated from UCSB's College of Creative Studies with her bachelor's degree in biology. She is studying the effect of KSHV infection on the host transcriptional landscape of blood and lymphatic endothelial cells through computational analysis of RNA-Seq data from both cell lines under infected and uninfected conditions. It is anticipated this will shed light on which cell line gives rise to malignancy, increasing our understanding of the pathogenesis and shedding light into possible prevention and/or treatment strategies. Veronica's work is primarily computational, and she strives to learn how to leverage and improve analysis of high-throughput data to explore biologic questions. When she is not in the lab, Veronica likes to rock climb, trail run, and go skiing at Mammoth Mountain.

Veronica worked on delineating host transcriptional changes following KSHV infection of primary endothelial cells through computational analysis of RNA-Seq data. She is now a PhD student at Duke university
