I graduated from UCSB in 2015 with a B.S. in Pharmacology. During my time in the Waite lab I've focused on two projects. My first project focused on investigating the role of the highly prevalent positively charged (basic) residues found in mussel foot proteins, specifically probing for the possibility of cation-pi interactions in adhesive plaque proteins. My second project has focused on discovering and characterizing new mussel foot proteins, to augment our understanding of the role of various amino acid functionalities in adhesion and cohesion in the plaque.
