Biography

Diego (they/they/their) is a second year Biology major in the College of Creative Studies. They joined the Acosta-Alvear lab in Spring 2019. They are interested in understanding the fundamental mechanism behind RNA stress responses within the cell and determining the genes involved with protecting cells from harmful RNAs. Following their undergrad, they plan to pursue a PhD in the biological sciences and become a professor. Outside of lab, Diego enjoys hiking, community healing with other LGBTQ+ people of color, and writing short stories.
