Undergraduate research credit

Selected undergraduates participating in research projects can apply for research units, click link above for information:

Approval codes for all research credit courses are released starting the first week of instruction and the email info can be filled out anytime during the first 3 weeks.

Research units procedure:
1) Faculty and the student agree on the project to be conducted in fulfillment of the research units via email. 50 hours of work = 1 unit

2) A detailed description of the research project and what you do on a daily basis, along with the faculty member's approval and the number of units to be earned must be included in this e-mail.  -Several sentences to a paragraph should suffice. You'll then e-mail that correspondence to either Andrew or Mike: (mike.tucker@lifesci.ucsb.edu or kroes@lifesci.ucsb.edu)

3) The Advisors will use that correspondence as the faculty signature and will then issue an approval code to the student (we will first verify qualifications and GPA requirements).

Note:  Your email should include: Your Name, Perm #, Faculty Sponsor Name and their approval, project description, the research credit course number being requested, and how many units are proposed (50 hours of work = 1 unit).  The subject line should say "Research Credit".
