My research investigates the coordination between cell proliferation and differentiation using C. elegans germline stem cells as a paradigm. Specifically, my research focuses on the role of microRNAs in maintaining homeostasis between stem cell proliferation and differentiation as well as ensuring the fidelity of this process by buffering noise in the underlying gene regulatory network. Another major focus of my research is the investigation of programmed cell death (PCD) regulators and their non-apoptotic roles in living cells during growth, proliferation and cellular reprogramming.
